Logility Announces 2009 Leadership Award Winners

Clement Pappas, Continental Mills, Lance, Inc., Ste. Michelle Wine Estates and The Heat Group Recognized for Supply Chain Leadership at Connections 2009

This year’s winners Clement Pappas, Continental Mills, Lance, Inc., Ste. Michelle Wine Estates and The Heat Group were recognized at Logility’s “Connections 2009 Supply Chain Optimization: Mission Possible” conference held recently in Atlanta, GA.

Logility’s annual award program recognizes a select group of companies who significantly improved their business processes, deployed an innovative solution for their supply chain challenges, or have demonstrated an on-going commitment and leadership role in the expansion of supply chain improvements. Each of this year’s award recipients demonstrated success in building collaboration and visibility within their supply chains which has resulted in tangible business benefits including inventory reduction, a streamlined sales and operations planning (S&OP) process, increased forecast accuracy, improved manufacturing planning, reduced transportation costs and higher customer service levels.

Examples of the winners’ improvements in operational performance include:

* Clement Pappas, a leading national private label juice and drink producer, was recognized for their achievement in optimizing their supply chain with Logility Voyager Solutions(TM) to improve demand, inventory, replenishment and manufacturing planning processes. As a result of better visibility into demand, Clement Pappas is able to manage its supply chain and manufacturing planning processes more effectively and can now be more proactive rather than reactive. The benefits they have attained thus far have included a 10% reduction in finished product inventory achieved while introducing a significant number of new product lines/extensions; reduced forecast error by 25% at the item by site level; improved perfect orders; and improved production throughput by an average of 10% with one production line improving by as much as 33%.
* Continental Mills, a producer of dry bakery mix products with leading brand names such as Krusteaz and Alpine, and a strong line of popular licensed brands, was recognized for their achievements in gaining supply chain visibility, improving resource efficiency, and evolving the S&OP process with Logility Voyager Solutions. Continental Mills has achieved record service levels and inventory turns on record sales, while reducing planning headcount, improving forecast accuracy, and ultimately providing better data and visibility.
* Lance, Inc., a leading producer and distributor of snack foods, who was recognized for its success increasing supply chain visibility, improving forecast accuracy and increasing shelf freshness for consumers, with the support of Logility Voyager Solutions. The results Lance achieved from gaining better demand visibility include improved forecast accuracy, reduced days on hand, accelerated S&OP collaboration and improved acquisition integration effectiveness.
* Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, a producer and marketer of a broad portfolio of premium wines from vineyards around the globe, was honored for its achievements automating transportation management with Logility Voyager Transportation Planning and Management. As a result, Ste. Michelle was able to cost-effectively support the company’s accelerating growth while reducing transportation costs, decreasing labor-intensive processes, and improving carrier relationships. Benefits also include increasing resource availability for more value-adding activities, reducing the truckload consolidation process from four to five hours a day to just two minutes, and reducing shipping cost audit and payment variances from an average of plus or minus $200 to an average of two dollars.
* The Heat Group, an Australian cosmetic distributor with such brands as Proctor & Gamble’s Max Factor and CoverGirl, French cosmetic brand Bourjois and ABC’s Elite accessory brand, as well as their own ‘impluse’ cosmetic brand Ulta 3, was recognized for its success increasing visibility and collaboration across the company, improving demand, inventory and replenishment planning processes and strengthening its S&OP process with Logility Voyager Solutions. As a result, The Heat Group has boosted its service level by nearly 6% to average 97%, improved internal collaboration, increased external collaboration with business partners, while maintaining target inventory levels.
