Epicorâs Latest ERP Solution is the Foundation of Symetricsâ Modernization Initiative, Increasing Productivity and Enterprise Visibility
IRVINE, Calif. (March 24, 2009) – Epicor Software Corporation (NASDAQ: EPIC), a
leading provider of enterprise business software solutions for the midmarket and divisions of
Global 1000 companies, today announced that its customer, Symetrics Industries, LLC, is a
winner of the 2009 Progressive Manufacturing 100 (PM100) Awards, presented by Managing
Automation Media, a Thomas Publishing Company, LLC publication.
Symetrics was named to the PM100 for its Manufacturing Systems Modernization
Initiative, the company’s multi-year project comprising deployment of new manufacturing
systems to automate and streamline operations, and improve data flow throughout the
organization.
The foundation of Symetrics’ modernization initiative is Epicor’s most recent awardwinning
enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, Epicor 9, which provides Symetrics with
support for manufacturing processes from proposal to delivery, including invoicing/collection,
HR and payroll. Epicor has helped Symetrics streamline operations, improve cycle time and
reduce errors, while improving the company’s on-time delivery record with best-in-class
responsiveness, flexibility and dependability.
“Our Epicor system brings together information from all aspects of our business to
provide ‘one version of the truth,’ via one set of data,” said Peter Volkert, director, Information
Systems for Symetrics. “This greatly reduces and eliminates errors of the past caused by our
use of disparate systems with different information on different spreadsheets throughout
different departments. Every user on the Epicor system–from shop floor to top floor–now has
the ability to see exactly where the product is in each stage of production. Better information
and more consistent information equal fewer mistakes and less wasted time, money, and
material.”
“Today manufacturers require decision support in real time, and they want it deployed in
the tools they already use, day in and day out,” said James Norwood, vice president of product
marketing for Epicor. “As demonstrated by Symetrics’ implementation, Epicor takes business
management and control to the next level by extending reach, synergy and visibility to the
organization. As the first customer to go live on our innovative next-generation ERP platform,
Symetrics is most deserving of this industry recognition as a progressive manufacturer
leveraging technology to achieve outstanding business results.”
David R. Broussell, editor-in-chief of Managing Automation Media commented, “in the
face of one of the worst economic downturns in history, these winning companies dramatically
underscore how the manufacturing industry will not only get through this period, but emerge in
an even stronger position once a recovery takes hold. The projects that enabled these
companies to become PM100 winners reflect great creativity and inventiveness, a determined
willingness to take risk, and an enduring resilience to continually improve every aspect of their
business. These companies are leading the way to a better future for all industry.”
Judged by an independent panel of publication management, industry analysts, industry
executive and past winning companies, the PM100 recognizes 100 projects that have achieved
distinction in at least one of the eight core disciplines critical to business success in the years
ahead. Symetrics and the other PM100 winners will be honored and presented with their awards
at the Progressive Manufacturing Awards Gala to be held on the last day of the Progressive
Manufacturing Summit 2009: Redefining the Business of Manufacturing in Turbulent Economic
Times, June 9-11, at the Ritz-Carlton in Sarasota, Fla.
