Corpesca Signs Multi-Suite Contract With Lawson Software
Chilean commercial fishing company selects Lawson M3 applications to help comply with international regulations and improve financial and logistics efficiencies
ST. PAUL, Minn. (November 21, 2007) – Lawson Software (Nasdaq:LWSN) today announced that Chile-based Corpesca has licensed the Lawson M3 Enterprise Financial Management and Supply Chain Management Suites. The commercial fishing company chose the Lawson applications to help improve financial and logistics efficiencies and help support compliance with international regulations through improved data access and greater visibility into financial systems. The contract was signed in Lawson’s first quarter of fiscal 2008, which ended Aug. 31, 2007.
Located in northern Chile, Corpesca is the largest fishmeal and fish oil producer in the country, accounting for approximately 25 percent of all open sea catches in Chile. Corpesca has a fleet of 83 fishing vessels and maintains fish oil and fishmeal production plants in the region, including Arica, Iquique, Tocopilla and Mejillones. Through these facilities, Corpesca has a capacity to process approximately 1,000 tons of raw material per hour. Corpesca is an important worldwide supplier of fishmeal and fish oil.
“As a business with an international presence, we need applications that enable us to adapt to international regulations and to manage general business needs,” said Nicolas Vukasovic, chief information officer, Corpesca. “The Lawson applications are part of our overall technology initiative designed to improve the quality and accuracy of our business processes to help us make the best decisions for our company.”
Once implemented, the Lawson solutions will help reduce time and effort needed to prepare consolidated financial reports and streamline the connections from key business applications – such as accounts payable, fixed assets and purchasing – into the company’s general ledger. The new Lawson system will also provide enhanced procurement and fulfillment applications. Finally, by combining Corpesca’s supply chain and financial systems into a single, unified system, the Lawson applications will help simplify maintenance and system support for Corpesca’s IT personnel.
“Businesses that operate on a global scale need applications that give them the flexibility and visibility to operate in many different markets at once,” said Peter Quinn, vice president of marketing operations for Lawson. “In addition, our low total cost of ownership helps international businesses like Corpesca gain the functionality needed to support large operations with the quality and flexibility that they need as they compete and grow globally.”
