Newsbyte: SAP Takes B2B Product Ordering Mobile
DALLAS (October 02, 2012) – SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced the availability of the SAP® ERP Customer Order Entry mobile app on SAP® Store. The mobile app connects an iPhone into the sales and distribution systems of wholesale distributors and consumer product providers, enabling their customers to have mobile access to supply orders in real time. The announcement was made at the SAP Retail Forum North America, being held in Dallas October 1-3, 2012.
A lack of real-time ordering in wholesale and consumer products has contributed to supply shortages and overstocking. With SAP ERP Customer Order Entry, product ordering is no longer locked to a specific location or office. Store managers and buyers on-the-go can view past orders, access item availability, submit new orders, make replenishment requests and pull down detailed inventory statistics.
“Mobile access opens up supply chains to a greater number of users on the ground,” said Simon Ellis, practice director, Supply Chain Strategies Practice Area, IDC Manufacturing Insights. “SAP ERP Customer Order Entry helps companies to better manage inventory levels so that demand is always on par with supply.”
SAP ERP Customer Order Entry is built on the proven technology of Sybase® Unwired Platform. SAP offers the retail mobile app as part of the SAP rapid-deployment solution for mobile apps and infrastructure. Business-to-business (B2B) companies unaccustomed to rolling out mobile technology can leverage pre-configured content, mobile customer order entry best practices and pre-defined deployment services for a fast implementation within a fixed scope and fixed price. The average timeframe for implementing a rapid-deployment solution is less than 90 days, with lower costs and fewer risks
SAP ERP Customer Order Entry is free and available for download on SAP Store. For a closer look, see: “Screenshots: SAP ERP Customer Order Entry” and “Video: SAP ERP Customer Order Entry Mobile App.”
