Newsbyte: SAP Increases Speed and Simplicity for Businesses Adopting SAP HANA®
Germany (September 04, 2013) – SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced a new offering that simplifies and speeds adoption of the SAP HANA® platform for customers running SAP® Business Suite software. Rapid database migration of SAP Business Suite to SAP HANA enables IT professionals to more easily replace their conventional relational database with the high-performance of SAP HANA. The offering automates the migration process through a series of preconfigured software, implementation services, standardized content and end-user enablement. The rapid database migration of SAP Business Suite to SAP HANA is available for all customers and partners. SAP® Consulting offers a fixed price and scope implementation that helps reduce the risk of delays, downtime, overriding costs security violations and integration challenges.
Database migrations have historically vexed IT professionals, especially when it comes to revamping long-standing transaction systems. A difficult migration may put business operations at risk, drive up costs and stymie productivity. The rapid database migration puts SAP HANA in the reach of more SAP Business Suite customers.
An SAP® Rapid Deployment solution enables customers that are running SAP Business Suite to more easily move to the SAP HANA platform. After the migration, customers can enjoy more business value, reduced IT cost, and better user experiences enabled by the SAP HANA platform: business interactions become smarter with real-time analytics and execution, business processes run faster, and the IT landscape becomes a lot simpler.
The project begins with an analysis of the database and version of the currently used SAP Business Suite. It includes the installation and updates of the SAP HANA platform and the SAP NetWeaver® platform to the latest version, and the update of the SAP® ERP 6.0 or SAP® Customer Relationship Management (SAP CRM) 7.0 applications to the latest SAP® enhancement package: SAP enhancement package 7 for SAP ERP 6.0 and SAP enhancement package 3 for SAP CRM 7.0. Lower releases of SAP Business Suite can also be addressed via the addition of an optional upgrade service.
The database migration is conducted to export the legacy database and import the data into SAP HANA. Customers benefit from an end-to-end offering that allows migration without a re-implementation, including a more seamless transition where existing processes can be used.
“SAP provides a tested and reliable migration package that takes doubt and uncertainty out of the equation,” said Bernd Welz, executive vice president and global head, Solution & Knowledge Packaging, SAP. “By removing these obstacles, we are making it easier for SAP Business Suite customers to supercharge their business dealings with the power of in-memory data management, whether deployed on-premise or through the SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud service”.
