Lawson Introduces Lawson Enterprise Search for the Lawson M3 Enterprise Management System
New offering to help optimize ERP software user productivity
ST. PAUL, Minn. (September 28, 2009) – Lawson Software (Nasdaq: LWSN) today announced the general availability of Lawson Enterprise Search for the Lawson M3 product suite. This follows the April 2009 introduction of Lawson Enterprise Search for Lawson S3 customers. Lawson Enterprise search is an intuitive new product to search both structured and unstructured data across the Lawson M3 system, Lawson Business Intelligence, the user’s desktop – and even their personal transaction history. It allows searching for data that is typically not searchable in standard database systems – even obscure information such as comments, notes and descriptions within documents. Lawson made the announcement in conjunction with it’s European “What’s Next” series of customer events starting this week in Germany and Sweden.
With Lawson Enterprise Search, part of the Lawson User Productivity Platform of tools, users can retrieve relevant results quickly and then take action based on that information. For example, if a company needed to recall a specific product due to a food contamination crisis, it could use Lawson Enterprise Search to find and deactivate all items associated with a product in its inventory, in purchase orders and in requisitions. Companies no longer need to comb through their enterprise software system line by line to discover and take action on specific changes or make a decision.
Organizations can quickly deploy and implement Lawson Enterprise Search without compromising their current Lawson system’s integrity. Tight integration with Lawson security helps ensure that users’ searches will return results only from those parts of the system they are allowed to access. Key Lawson Enterprise Search capabilities include support for wildcards, the ability to search keys, comments, descriptions and dates, save commonly used search queries, and search from any transaction field to find related information.
“The measure of an enterprise search solution is its ability to shorten the time to get to actionable data,” said Lee Kilmer, global director of Product Management for Lawson. “Just as today’s consumer search engines have transformed how people use the internet, Lawson Enterprise Search will help transform how customers use their Lawson M3 applications. By strengthening and speeding the search function, user productivity can be enhanced for many day-to-day tasks. Furthermore, the search technology will help software users handle ad hoc requirements that in the past were simply not feasible because of cost, time or amount of effort involved.”
