Polanco Group Chooses the Lawson M3 Suite
Cadiz-based group plans to use the Lawson applications to integrate the business processes across all of its companies
MADRID/CADIZ, Spain (October 23, 2006) – Lawson Software (Nasdaq: LWSN), a global provider of enterprise resource planning software, today announced that the Polanco Group will install the Lawson M3 solution. The Cadiz-based group owns several companies that operate in the wood products sector. The contract was signed in Lawson’s first quarter of fiscal 2007, which ended Aug. 31, 2006.
The main objective behind the Lawson implementation is to bring together the business processes of all of the Polanco Group’s industrial and distribution companies into one single management system. This will help the organization optimize operating efficiency, increase competitiveness and manage operating costs.
The Lawson solution will be installed on a new IBM i5 e-server. In the past, the Polanco Group used its own management solutions, which were entirely custom-developed and maintained by the company’s internal resources.
The 100 percent Spanish- and family-run Polanco Group operates in various segments of the wood products sector: distribution of all commercial grades and sizes of wood from the five continents, manufacture of all types of semi-finished wood products (doors, panels, molding, windows, etc.), manufacture of wood construction for exterior applications, manufacture and assembly of kitchen units, distribution of industrial wood-working machinery, hardware, paint and do-it-yourself products, and distribution of home and office furniture, décor items, domestic appliances and other equipment. The Polanco Group has a turnover of EUR 78 million and employs 647 people.
Based in Chiclana, Cadiz, the company currently has an industrial and commercial center in the same location, a distribution center in Otura, Granada, and a growing network of shops. It will soon open a second factory in Alcalá de los Gazules, Cadiz.
The project, with a roll-out scheduled for January 2008, will serve a total of 260 users. The installation process includes the implementation of Lawson M3 for Finance Management, Manufacturing Operations, Enterprise Asset Management, Supply Chain Management, Customer Sales and Service, and Enterprise Performance Management. CRM and other applications that support sales will be installed at a later date.
In the selection process, the Polanco Group valued the capabilities of the Lawson M3 suite for working with attribute-configured products and finite capacity production and planning. In addition, the Polanco Group saw value in features for managing and consolidating the financial, commercial and logistics activities of all the companies in the group.
“The trust placed in Lawson by the Polanco Group confirms the capabilities of our company in the industrial and distribution sector, a market in which the Lawson M3 solution is the leader, said Joan Solé, general manager of Lawson in Spain. “We are extremely pleased to include a company as sound as the Polanco Group in our Spanish client portfolio.
“Our belief in the Lawson M3 application suite and its very powerful capabilities to tailor to our specific management needs were a decisive factor in choosing this solution, said Manuel Pacheco Iglesias, manager of the Polanco Group.
