World’s Largest Caterpillar Equipment Dealer Selects Lawson Software to Enhance Customer Service

Finning International will use the Lawson applications for the equipment service management & rental industries to help improve customer service and support growth

LAS VEGAS (March 18, 2008) – Lawson Software (Nasdaq: LWSN) today announced that Finning International Inc., the world’s largest Caterpillar equipment dealer, licensed the Lawson M3 Enterprise Management System and Lawson S3 Human Capital Management Suite to help support the company’s long-term growth. The global equipment distributor will use the Lawson M3 solution, designed specifically for the equipment service management & rental industries, to support tight integration with Caterpillar, enhance customer service, gain organization-wide visibility into business processes and create a reliable, consolidated source of information. Finning will also use the Lawson S3 Human Capital Management solution to help optimize human resources management across the organization. The contract was signed during Lawson’s third quarter of fiscal 2008, which ended Feb. 29, 2008.

Finning International is headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia and has 13,000 employees in Canada, the United Kingdom, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, and Bolivia. Its global operation includes Hewden Stuart, which is an existing Lawson customer. Finning serves a range of industrial markets, including oilsands and mining, forestry, construction, oil and gas, government, marine, transportation, and commercial transport.

“Finning has an aggressive business strategy that will significantly increase our parts and service revenue by the end of the decade,” said Jeff Leigh, vice president of Business Processes and Systems, Finning International. “To effectively handle the increase in volume that will come from that growth, we need one, reliable IT solution that is easy to use, tightly integrated with Caterpillar, and meets our global business, technical and customer needs.”

Finning completed an extensive evaluation of competitive software solutions before selecting the Lawson M3 system. “The Lawson functionality will help enhance the efficiency of our equipment lifecycle management processes worldwide,” added Leigh.

The company will conduct a phased rollout of the Lawson applications starting with its Canadian operations. Subsequent phases of the project will deploy the software to Finning operations in South America and the United Kingdom.

The Lawson M3 solution will help support Finning’s branch and field service network, sales activities and parts operations, including back office support for financial and supply chain management.

“Lawson is establishing a leading position as a provider of business software for the global equipment service management and rental markets because our solutions are designed around the specific needs of these industries,” said Andreas Hellstrom, industry strategy director for Lawson. “We are proud that we have been able to serve leading equipment dealers like Finning around the globe with solutions that help our customers be more successful and support their global growth plans.”
